What it is: a unique head-support device designed to properly hold your noggin so you can sleep sitting up without getting a stiff neck. The padded disk packs flat. You shape it into a supportive “pillow” after you sit on the plane, train, bus, etc. You can use either the soft fabric or faux leather side. You mold one half over one shoulder and shape the other half to cradle the back of your skull and chin. An elastic strap is provided to secure it to your body. NapAnywhere was created by a traveler who got tired of waking up with a stiff neck after napping in awkward positions on trips. It comes in six colors, including crimson, cobalt and black.
The good: It took me a couple tries to properly attach NapAnywhere, but once I succeeded, it was love at first nap. I’ve used it to sleep on domestic and international flights. NapAnywhere helps me fall asleep quickly, and I awake rested without a crick in my neck. On a few trips, I fell asleep before takeoff immediately after I positioned NapAnywhere.
The bad: You have to be willing to look a bit geeky to use it, so I usually take it off before heading to the airplane loo. The written directions that come with NapAnywhere are not clear, but there is a “how-to” video on YouTube: youtube.com/watch?v=JviLJXndfQw
